American actor and producer Jake Gyllenhaal will be the new face of luxury watchmaker Cartier’s iconic Santos de Cartier timepiece.
Noted for his performance in Brokeback Mountain in 2005, which earned him a BAFTA for best supporting role and an Oscar nomination, the 37-year-old Hollywood actor is set to appear in a film advertisement which will appear online and in cinemas this spring.

With a functional and elegant design, the Santos de Cartier watch was first developed in 1904.
The latest interpretation of the square-face timepiece, which features an interchangeable leather strap and bracelet, was unveiled in Geneva in January.
"Integrity, dedication and boundless curiosity: Jake Gyllenhaal embodies the Santos de Cartier man," Cartier said in a statement. "A man who commits utterly and does nothing by halves. A man who defines fearless as honest and true to himself."
It continued, "Jake Gyllenhaal reveals a new side to his talent with every film, performing a wide variety of roles. Cartier was drawn to his invincible style and fearless spirit."
The Santos de Cartier watch in stainless steel and calfskin leather straps is priced at HK$54,000, while the timepiece in 18ct yellow gold and stainless steel costs HK$81,500.
