Goldie

Goldie is a totally original performer and artist who has sold more than 2.5 million records worldwide.

Against all odds, and despite a traumatic childhood, he succeeded in unleashing his boundless creativity from a very young age, having transformed an underground British sound into a mainstream international movement, whilst collaborating with major pop icons along the way. Goldie (Clifford Joseph Price) earned his name as a graffiti artist in the West Midlands in the early eighties. His artwork around Birmingham and Wolverhampton was featured heavily in Afrikaa Bambaataa’s 1985 feature film documentary Bombing (which was broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK). It was his move to London and a visit to the Rage Club in 1991 that things changed for the graffiti artist and the music genesis was born. DJ Fabio and Grooverider were playing that night and gave Goldie a taste of Jungle, and from then he couldn't get enough.

Music Career

In 1992 he made his first album appearance by contribution of a short vocal bit to the legendary track Rufige by Icelandic group Ajax Project. His first studio album, Timeless, entered the UK Albums Chart at number seven. The album fused the breakbeats and basslines common in jungle with orchestral textures and soul vocals by Diane Charlemagne.

Television Work

In the late 1980s he appeared on Central Weekend, a Friday evening topical debate show on Central TV, promoting graffiti as an artform. He had a small documentary made about his art on Central TV's Here and Now programme featuring Pogus Caesar's photographs of New York. His acting credits include the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough, Guy Ritchie's Snatch and the British soap opera EastEnders. He has appeared in a number of celebrity reality television shows including Celebrity Big Brother UK, Strictly Come Dancing and Come Dine With Me. In 2007 Goldie returned to the art world with an art exhibition 'Love Over Gold', which ran at the Leonard Street Gallery. In 2008, the BBC broadcast Maestro, a reality television show in which eight celebrities, including Goldie, learned to conduct a concert orchestra. He finished second. Goldie is a truly talented individual, with successes in a number of artistic endeavours and a popular media platform to build upon, he is a sensational choice of bran ambassador.
