Fern Britton

Fern Britton is one of Britain's best-loved presenters on television. She is probably best known for her role as the former presenter of BBC2's top rated and award winning 'Ready Steady Cook', presenting more than 1,000 shows in over four years and created a cult following amongst the accumulative audience of 16 million. More recently she has become known to a wider audience having been the co-host of 'This Morning' from 1999 to 2009 alongside Philip Schofield. Fern Britton started her broadcasting career with the BBC as a senior presenter with Spotlight South West moving quickly to BBC1's News Afternoon as the then BBC's youngest ever-national news presenter. She later became a Senior Presenter with TVS hosting Coast to Coast; Coast to Coast People and Magic Moments and presented The Gloria Hunniford Show on BBC Radio Two in 1989. Fern is well versed in live reporting down the line, on location and in studio having gained her extensive experience whilst working across the network as a presenter on Carlton Television's After Five, BBC's Breakfast Time, GMTV's Top Of The Morning, as Entertainment Correspondent of London News Network's London Tonight, and as a guest reporter for BBC1’s Holiday. March 1998 saw the launch of her first book, ‘Fern’s Family Favourites’ (Andre Deutsch) written with cook and home economist Susie Magasiner. The book is a collection of 60 of her favourite recipes and tips on preparing food for the busiest of cooks! October 1999 saw the release of her second book Winter Treats and Summer Delights (Andre Deutsch). In 2001 Fern presented a series for BBC1 called ‘Danger, Celebrity at Work’ for which she was also required to spend a day working in and around Brighton as a motorcycle courier. She also presented a pilot series for ITV called DIY Disasters for which she trawled the country trying to find the worst so-called DIY expert! From 29 November 2009, she hosted a series for BBC One called Fern Britton Meets... in which she interviewed high profile personalities about their religious beliefs. On 2 February 2011, it was confirmed that Britton would be taking over the 5:00 pm chatshow slot on Channel 4 that Paul O'Grady previously hosted. The show, 'Fern', began on 28 March 2011. She has also starred in advertisements for several companies and causes, including appearances as herself in advertisements for several Ryvita Minis, and in the 2007 What's it going to take? campaign for the charitable organisation Women's Aid. On 10 September 2012, Britton was confirmed as one of the 14 celebrities taking part in the tenth series of Strictly Come Dancing. Fern is one of Britain's most-loved celebs, she is an excellent brand ambassador who has a number of highly successful endorsement campaigns already behind her.
