“Now I have a child, so every holiday is becoming a thing, which is really fun,” Chloë Sevigny explained on a recent phone call. “I feel like apple-picking is definitely the start of the holiday season.” Though almost synonymous with a certain brand of New Yorker cool (“I’ve lived here longer than where I lived against my will for the first 19 years of my life,” she said laughing), many of her traditions hark back to her Connecticut upbringing, like cutting down a Christmas tree from a farm. “Raising a city kid I think, as many opportunities as you get to get ’em out in nature to see where things are grown, and how they’re grown, and where they come from is really important to us.” She adds, “Maybe when he’s older, and he can hold the little saw [we can take him].” 

When it comes to holiday dressing, Chloë Sevigny has an exacting vision. “I think white is a very powerful color, especially during the holidays,” she said.

At a new year’s party she threw while pregnant she wore a white Simone Rocha “big shirt thing,” with a white vintage Comme des Garçons skirt and “for some reason, these huge Margiela platforms,” which she may have regretted the next day. 

At a recent birthday Chloë Sevigny also wore white: a vintage Patrick Kelly dress, with bows down the front and rhinestone buttons.

Sevigny embraced glitz and glamour for the H&M campaign, wearing a black sequined mock-neck mini dress and a pink satin suit with red pumps.
